2020 was a difficult year for everyone and we spent much of the year simply adapting to having our entire slot of programming completely dissolved. We mostly hosted unstructured discussions to allow for people to gather together and simply see one another. As we move forward into 2021 structured programming is back and we are hitting the ground running.
Rainbow Seniors general programming is back and will be packed full of topic discussions, interactive activities, educational opportunities, film screenings and more. We will also leave one meeting a month as an unstructured discussion and even structured meetings leave plenty of room to stray off topic and just have a fun chat. All meetings will be via Zoom until it is deemed safe that we can meet in person in a way that allows for programming to resume as close to normal as possible.
On top of regular programming returning, we are also proud to announce the formation of a member-led Programming Committee, that brainstorms and brings to fruition programming for Rainbow Seniors, directly from ideas discussed within our regular meetings and at their Programming Committee meetings.
So far the Programming Committee has hosted a program centered around black LGBTQIA+ artists where attendees and organizers shared their favorites and highlighted the contributions of said artists to both our community and the art world and a presentation and discussion on coping with isolation during Covid-19. This included both a video presentation and speaker from Elder Services of the Berkshires. They have also hosted a movie screening as well. The most recent film screening was of the lesbian road trip movie Cloudburst.
We look forward to seeing all of the amazing programs the committee comes up with! If you are interested in joining the Programming Committee email firstname.lastname@example.org
